Privacy policy

This statement on privacy policy is published by Murasu Systems Sdn Bhd (The Publishers) and applies to your use of the Sangam Keyboards app and its keyboard extensions for iPhone and iPad (hereinafter referred to as the Sangam App).

1. General

This application (the “App”) and any information obtained through the App or from other sources is stored on servers operated and maintained by or on behalf of Murasu Systems Sdn Bhd (“Murasu”) and/or on servers operated and maintained by the applicable application store, including, but not limited to, the Apple App Store and Google Play (collectively referred to as the “App Store”).

Murasu Systems is committed to protecting your privacy and we take our responsibilities regarding the security of information you provide to us, either directly or via the App Store, very seriously. The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you, as a user of this App, what kinds of information we may gather about you when you download the App, how we may use that information, whether we will disclose it to anyone, the choices you have regarding our use of that information and how you can correct that information.

If you have any concerns, questions or comments about this privacy policy or the Sangam App, you can contact us by following the instructions set out in paragraph 9 of this privacy policy.

2. Sangam App’s use of information

If you downloaded the Sangam App via the App Store, you will provide the App Store with information about yourself and you will be able to select whether the Sangam App can use your information for marketing purposes. We will only use your information in accordance with your instructions and as set out in this privacy policy.

3. Disclosure to third parties

We shall treat your information in strict confidence and shall not divulge or release it to any third parties without your consent.

However, we may disclose your personally identifiable information in response to legal process, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena or police investigations.

We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency’s request, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our terms of use, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our sites and applicable laws, or as otherwise required or permitted by law or consistent with legal requirements.

Our staff or associates who have access to your personally identifiable information are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this privacy statement and are not authorised to use the information for any purpose other than to carry out the services they are entrusted with performing for us.

We assure you that we shall take all appropriate measures within our means to safeguard against unauthorised disclosures of your information.

In the event that the Sangam App wants to share personally identifiable information with third parties for business purposes, it will provide you with an opportunity to give your consent prior to such disclosure, and such information shall only be released or shared upon your express consent. To provide users with additional or more relevant product and service opportunities, we may share non-personally identifiable information with third parties.

4. Maintenance and storage of information

Your information is collected and stored on servers which are owned and maintained by or on behalf of the Sangam App publishers. We may keep your information for a reasonable period for the purposes set out in this privacy policy.

5. Security

In accordance with our requirements under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, we will adopt appropriate security procedures to help prevent unauthorised access to your information. We have put in place within our means appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorised access, to maintain data security, and to use correctly the information we collect online.

The Publishers shall not be liable for any attempt to hack or crack or otherwise gain access to any part of this App including any of your information.

6. Policy changes

By using the App you agree to the terms of this privacy policy and our terms of use.

We may amend this privacy policy and the terms of use from time to time. If we do so, we will post an updated version on this page. You are responsible for regularly reviewing this policy so that you are aware of any changes to it, and you will be bound by the new policy upon your continued use of the App.

7. International transfer

In view of the nature of the Sangam App, which can be downloaded globally, it may be necessary to transfer your information internationally according to law and according to this privacy statement. In particular, your information will likely be transferred to Malaysia, where many of our central databases operate, or to any other foreign locations where we may locate our databases or hosting facilities.

Please be assured that we take reasonable steps and all efforts within our means to ensure that your privacy is protected at all times. By using this App you consent to your information being collected, used and transferred as set forth in this privacy statement.

8. Sangam Keyboards — what you type, and Full Access

Sangam Keyboards is a keyboard extension. iOS treats keyboards as a special case and asks you to grant Full Access separately, so it is worth stating plainly what that does and does not permit.

Without Full Access, iOS prevents the keyboard from reaching the network at all. It can type, suggest and correct, but it cannot send anything anywhere.

With Full Access granted, the keyboard is permitted to use the network. In Sangam Keyboards this is what allows the app to download the language dictionaries you choose from the Dictionaries screen, and to share your installed dictionaries and learned words between the app and the keyboard.

Your keystrokes are not transmitted to us. Words the keyboard learns in order to improve suggestions and next-word prediction are held on your device, and are removed when you remove the keyboard’s dictionaries or delete the app. Secure text fields — password fields, and any field an app marks as secure — are handled by the system keyboard, not by ours.

If you would rather not grant Full Access, the keyboard continues to work with the dictionaries already installed.

You are entitled to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you (for which we may charge a small fee) and to have any inaccuracies in your information corrected.
